Zip, Bike, and Cook in Phuket, Thailand

A tropical, beach island, Phuket, Thailand, is only a two-hour flight from Singapore, so we love to go as often as we can. In a recent trip, we did a zip line, a coast-to-coast bike tour, and a cooking class, plus enjoyed time to read and relax by the Mai Khao beach and pool at the Marriott. February weather is beautiful with blue skies, sunny days, and low humidity. Rain showers cool the evening.

Zipline: Hanuman World, Phuket

Adventurous day with 18 platforms and zipping through an expansive rainforest. The bridge crossing and duo zip were highlights!

Bike ride! Coast-to-Coast, 50km ride

Fantastic 50km bike ride! Coast-to-coast Phuket ride with Siam Bike Tours Cycling Thailand. Our two guides were excellent and fun. We stopped at pineapple farms, rubber tree plantations, the beach, and had a drink at the pier. Great road bikes and shockingly smooth well-paved roads. Such a different view of Phuket with countryside farms and humble living.

Blue Elephant Cooking School, Old Phuket Town

Great cooking class! Private class at Blue Elephant Cooking School in Old Phuket Town. We made 5 dishes! Massaman curry with chicken, sea bass soup with turmeric, triangle spring rolls with chicken potato filling, fried prawns with tamarind sauce (sooo good!), steamed coconut pudding with black sticky rice. We love the Thai flavors- lemongrass, ginger, galangal (a citrusy cousin of ginger), shallots, palm sugar (less sweet than white sugar and has a caramel flavor), tamarind paste, coconut milk, coriander, cumin, and kaffir lime.

Marriott’s Phuket Beach Club, Mai Khao beach

Beautiful resort with pools, tropical grounds, an array of restaurants, fitness center, and beachfront at the sands of Mai Khao Beach.

Delicious food at Bartels Cafe!

Such a great time! Scoot-ing back to Singapore!
